The Sporting Intelligence agency has published its annual study of the salaries of sports teams around the world. Not counting all the team sports disciplines (there is no Formula 1, which would lead by much ranking, or the NHL hockey), They focus on football, basketball, baseball or American football.

In this ranking, which collects the salaries of 349 teams, 18 leagues and 8 different sports, the first position is occupied by Barcelona, followed by Real Madrid. The Blaugrana team is the team that spends the most in net annual salaries on average in its workforce, and becomes the first team that exceeds 10 million pounds (about 11.28 million euros) in history. They rise from the fourth to the first position with respect to 2017, due to the last contract renewal of Leo Messi.

Real Madrid also climbs in the ranking. Go from ninth position to second with respect to the previous year, although still counts the salary that Cristiano Ronaldo charged until he went to Juventus. The average annual expenditure on salaries of Real Madrid is 8.08 million pounds (about 9.12 million euros). It is expected that, in the next study, lower the white set and raise the neroazzurro.

The new agreement of the NBA and the increase of the payment to the franchises on the part of the League has caused that it changes a little the panorama in this aspect with respect to previous years. In 2015, eight soccer teams appeared in the 'top 10' of the ranking, compared to the four that are in this latest edition of the study. In addition to Barcelona and Real Madrid, there is Juventus, which is 9th with some 6.7 million pounds in annual salaries (about 7.5 million euros) and Manchester United, which is 10th with 6.5 million pounds ( 7.3 million euros). This year, it is the NBA teams that win the 'top 10', with six among the top ten.
