FC Barcelona made an unexpected payment of yesterday 15 million Euros to Atlético de Madrid. As reported by El Mundo, both clubs they would have agreed this amount to “sign the peace” for the Griezmann case through the aforementioned payment. We remember that Atlético denounced the Barca entity for allegedly negotiating with Griezmann when he still had a valid contract with the Metropolitan team.
Likewise, this payment of 15 million includes an option of right of first refusal on five soccer players, among which Saúl Ñíguez and Jose María Giménez. In fact, Barcelona already had a preferential right for the player in 2013 following the signing of David Villa by the athletic club.
However, both FC Barcelona and the president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, have denied that both issues are related under the same payment. “The subject of Antoine has already closed with the ridiculous fine of the 300 euros of the Federation. About money I will not speak anything but the score has nothing to do with Griezmann“, admitted Cerezo.
